Our History
The concept of Good ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ Lutheran College was conceived in late 1995, leading to the formation of a School Task Force, comprising of members from the two Lutheran congregations in Darwin. This group recognised the need for alternative education in the fast-growing Palmerston community.
In 1998, Good ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ Lutheran College opened its first junior school in Palmerston with just 18 students. Over the subsequent years it has grown rapidly, and now has three campuses and over 1,200 students.
As the students grew, so too did the college. From 2007-2009, Good ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ Lutheran College opened a middle school (and subsequently senior school) campus in Howard Springs.
In 2015, a merge with St Andrew Lutheran School in Leanyer led to the establishment of a third campus, renamed 'Good ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ Lutheran College' to align with Palmerston and Howard Springs. The college now comprises three Junior Schools (located in Palmerston, Howard Springs, and Leanyer) as well as the Howard Springs Middle/Senior School.
Lutheran Education
The Lutheran Church, a Christian Church, believes in the Triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) and the Bible as His Word. The school values each individual as a creation of God with unique talents and emphasizes love, justice, and excellence in education. As part of their education at Good ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵÏÂÔØ Lutheran College, students from ELC – Year 12 attend chapel, led by our College Chaplain, and undertake Christian Studies as a subject.
Since 1839, Lutheran schools in Australia have grown to educate over 38,000 students in 86 schools and care for close to 4,000 children in 52 early childhood centres nationwide.
